Oregon's governor's race must have a
pro-democracy candidate who prioritizes campaign finance and electoral
reform. Winning an election is not only about getting elected but
also about raising alternative solutions and changing the debate. That
objective was advanced when Tina Kotek last week made specific public
commitments to prioritize campaign finance reform.
Therefore, due largely to personal reasons, I am withdrawing from my nominations for Governor by the Pacific Green Party and the Oregon Progressive Party. This was not an easy decision. The key factor in my decision is that a candidate in the race is now committed publicly on her website to real campaign finance reform in Oregon, including specifically:
Addendum by Oregon Progressive Party:
David Delk, Chair of the Oregon Progressive Party, thanked Nathalie Paravicini for her dedicated advocacy of policies in the public interest. "We look forward to Nathalie's continued activism on behalf of Oregonians."
We note that a detailed commitment to campaign finance reform is now listed as a top priority issue on Tina Kotek’s website. Tina Kotek is the only candidate publicly committed to real campaign finance reform. The other candidates' websites say not a single word about this key issue that has overwhelming support from Oregon voters. Tina Kotek should also be supporting the adoption of voting methods that more accurately achieve the will of the voters, such as ranked choice voting or STAR voting.

The key factor in my decision is that a candidate in the race is now committed publicly on her website to real campaign finance reform in Oregon, including specifically:
- Limits on individual donors of $2,000 for statewide candidates and $1,000 for legislative candidates.
- Limits and restrictions on donations between different types of political action committees (PACs).
- Individual small donor PACs with limitations proportional to the limits of other political action committees.
- Increased transparency to reduce the influence of dark money by requiring robust disclosure of who is funding these efforts.
- Small donor public financing that can match and multiply the impact of small donations.
